Tokyo: Toshiba Electronic Devices and Storage Corporation has initiated the provision of engineering samples for its new gate driver IC, “TB9084FTG,” designed for three-phase brushless DC motors. These motors are integral to various on-board functions in vehicles, including automotive body systems, electric pumps, and motor generators. This development marks a significant step in the electrification of vehicle components, transitioning from mechanically controlled parts to more efficient electric motors.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the automotive industry is increasingly adopting brushless DC motors due to their quieter operation and extended lifespan compared to traditional brushed DC motors. This shift is part of a broader trend towards electrification in vehicles, aiming to enhance performance and reliability. The introduction of Toshiba’s new gate driver IC is expected to support this transition, providing a critical component for the efficient operation of these advanced motor systems.
