Tokyo: Toshiba Electronic Devices and Storage Corporation ("Toshiba") has introduced a new automotive photorelay, named "TLX9161T," which is designed to support high-voltage automotive batteries. This innovative product comes in a compact SO12L-T package and achieves an output withstand voltage of at least 1500V. The company has announced that volume shipments of the product commence today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, one of the main challenges in the widespread adoption of electric vehicles is the need to reduce charging times and enhance the cruising range. These goals can be achieved through the efficient operation of the battery system, which is managed by the battery management system (BMS). The BMS is crucial as it monitors the battery's charge status to ensure high-efficiency operation and checks the isolation between the battery and the vehicle body. This is essential for the safe use of high-voltage batteries, where electrically isolated photorelays play a pivotal role.
Toshiba's latest product aims to address these challenges by providing a reliable solution for battery management systems that handle high voltages. The TLX9161T is expected to contribute significantly to the efficiency and safety of electric vehicles, thereby supporting the industry's growth and technological advancement.
