Riyadh: The second cycle of the TOURISE Awards has opened public nominations from Sept 1 to Nov 19, recognizing tourism destinations that deliver distinctive, purpose-driven travel experiences and set new standards for the global tourism industry. In a statement, Saudi Arabia Minister of Tourism and TOURISE Chairman, Ahmed Al-Khateeb, stated that the awards recognize destinations leading in innovation, sustainability, and cultural authenticity while contributing to economic growth, cultural exchange, and community empowerment.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the 2027 awards feature six categories: Best Arts and Culture Destination, Best Adventure Destination, Best Food and Culinary Destination, Best Shopping Destination, Best Entertainment Destination, and the new Best Wellness Destination. In addition, a flagship Best Overall Destination award will recognize the destination that excels across all aspects of the traveler experience and sets a global benchmark as the most exceptional place to visit.
Eligible destinations must have a defined geographic scope, a distinct identity shaped by their culture, landscapes, and attractions, and the backing of a tourism governing body responsible for effective destination management. The awards will be judged by an independent panel comprising leaders from travel and tourism, fashion, culinary, art, retail, culture, adventure, and entertainment, including Cond© Nast former Managing Director, Albert Read, and Forbes Travel Guide former Chief Executive Officer, Filip Boyen.
Destinations will be assessed against 14 criteria, including authenticity, accessibility, safety, sustainability, and visitor experience. Each category will produce a shortlist, followed by the selection of one winner and two distinguished finalists by the jury. The winners will be honored at the TOURISE Awards ceremony, held alongside the TOURISE Summit in Riyadh on March 23, 2027.
