TUMPAT, A 28-year-old traffic policeman fractured his left thighbone after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a van near Jalan Kubang Panjang here today.

Tumpat police chief ACP Mohd Khairi Shafie said that in the 12.50 pm incident, the constable from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) of the Kelantan Police Headquarters was heading to Pengkalan Kubor from Kota Bharu.

He said the constable, astride a CBX 750 motorcycle, was on official traffic control duty in conjunction with Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan’s working visit to the Pengkalan Kubor Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex.

“Upon reaching the scene of the incident, a Nissan Vannette C22, which was ahead of the constable turned right.

“The constable tried to avoid the van, driven by a man in his 50s, by moving to the right but, instead, crashed into the van’s door, resulting in him fracturing his left thighbone,’ he said in a statement today, adding that the constable was
taken to the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital in Kota Bharu.

He urged those with information on the accident to contact Tumpat Police Headquarters Traffic Investigation Officer Insp Ibrahim Usman at 010-9069696.
