Seremban: Seremban and Port Dickson in Negeri Sembilan are experiencing the aftermath of Tropical Storm Senyar, which entered the Straits of Melaka waters at approximately 3.30 pm yesterday, bringing with it continuous heavy rain, strong winds, and rough seas.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the state Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre has reported landslides and several fallen trees in the affected areas. A significant landslide occurred at around 3.55 am in a residential area on Jalan Bukit Berlian 2, Taman Bukit Berlian, Seremban, leading to the evacuation of six residents. Monitoring is ongoing in the affected zones.
A motorcyclist, aged 61, sustained injuries after colliding with a fallen tree near AEON Seremban 2 at around 3.10 am and was taken to Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital for treatment. Additionally, a Proton Saga car was struck by a fallen tree near the Ehsan Sea View Hotel area in Port Dickson, fortunately resulting in no casualties.
The storm's impact has extended to increased flood victims in multiple states. In Terengganu, the number of displaced individuals rose to 4,191 across 60 temporary evacuation centers. Marang district recorded the highest number of flood victims, followed by Kemaman and Setiu districts.
Kedah also reported a rise in flood victims, with 4,543 people affected. The majority are from the Kubang Pasu district, followed by Kota Setar and Pokok Sena districts. In Perak, flood victims increased to 5,861 across 45 evacuation centers, with Manjung district being the most affected.
Selangor recorded an increase in flood victims to 2,718 individuals, with Klang, Kuala Selangor, and Sabak Bernam being the most affected areas. Selangor JBPM is actively monitoring flood-prone zones in Sepang.
In Pahang, the number of flood victims rose to 486 people, with the Kuantan district recently affected. Negeri Sembilan also experienced flooding due to continuous rain, with 28 victims evacuated to local evacuation centers.
In contrast, Kelantan and Perlis reported a decrease in flood victims. Kelantan recorded 6,318 victims still in evacuation centers, while Perlis noted a slight decrease to 7,609 victims. The Perlis Disaster Management secretariat continues to operate 24 evacuation centers to accommodate those affected.
