Kuala pilah: The Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, has issued a solemn reminder to the state's newly appointed executive councillors (Exco) to fulfill their duties with integrity, fairness, and professionalism. His Royal Highness highlighted the importance of not misusing the powers bestowed upon them for personal, family, or friends' gains, particularly in decisions related to government tenders and projects.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tuanku Muhriz emphasized the need for leaders with strong principles and integrity, warning that abuse of power could lead to injustice and weaken policy implementation meant for public benefit. These remarks were made during the swearing-in ceremony of the Negeri Sembilan State Executive Council members at Istana Besar Seri Menanti.
The ceremony was attended by Tunku Ampuan Besar Tuanku Aishah Rohani Tengku Besar Mahmud, Tunku Besar Seri Menanti Tunku Ali Redhauddin Tuanku Muhriz, and Tunku Panglima Besar Tunku Zain Al-'Abidin Tuanku Muhriz. Also present were local dignitaries, including Datuk Klana Petra Muhammad Faris Johari and Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim.
Tuanku Muhriz pointed out that the appointments posed a challenge for all Exco members, who also serve as state assemblymen. He reminded them that they are responsible for formulating policies that prioritize the well-being of the state and its people. The expectations placed upon the state government are high, and every policy must be executed efficiently and transparently.
His Royal Highness also stressed that government success is measured not just by planning, but by delivering tangible results to the people. He urged the new leadership to build on the achievements of the previous government in attracting investments, boosting state revenue, and creating economic opportunities.
Furthermore, Tuanku Muhriz noted that while Negeri Sembilan has recorded high investment figures and revenue growth, these achievements must be sustained and enhanced. He called for continuous improvement to maintain an excellent and effective state administration.
His Royal Highness concluded with prayers for peace and prosperity in Negeri Sembilan, hoping that all officials will make decisions that prioritize public interest. The recent state election results saw Barisan Nasional securing 18 seats and Perikatan Nasional winning seven, forming a government with a two-thirds majority.
