Selangor: The Selangor Islamic Turath Festival (FTIS) is an effort by the state government to strengthen religious understanding of the rich legacy inherited by the Muslim community, thereby deepening the faith of Muslims and promoting a more balanced and resilient society.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari emphasized that the nine-day festival aims to enhance religious comprehension through the study and teaching of turath (Islamic heritage books). The initiative seeks to curb negative cultural influences by exploring diverse fields of knowledge. Amirudin highlighted the importance of balancing modern life with deep reflection on Islamic heritage to enrich both religious and life understanding.
He made these remarks at the opening of the Islamic Book Festival 2025, part of the FITS 2025, at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque. During the event, 'Buku Muhaddisat: Wanita Periwayat Hadis' by Syeikh Dr Mohammad Akram Nadwi was launched, with Nurul Izzah Anwar, the executive chairman of Polity, unveiling the book.
Amirudin also noted the encouraging response to FTIS 2025, now in its third edition, with at least 1,000 participants attending each knowledge-sharing session and related activities. The festival, held from July 12 to 20, featured 18 prominent Islamic academicians and scholars, including Prof Emeritus Dr Sheikh Abdel Fattah Abdel Ghany Al-Awari, Sheikh Dr Mohammad Akram Nadwi, and Dr Adi Hidayat.
