TVET Emerges as Preferred Pathway with 99% Employability Rate

Kuala lumpur: Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is increasingly being recognized as a mainstream educational pathway rather than a secondary option, highlighting its growing acceptance among the public.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek announced a significant rise in TVET applications, from 28,098 in 2022 to 58,263 this year. This surge, which far exceeds the available capacity of 17,912 places, underscores the growing public confidence in TVET as a viable educational choice.

The minister attributed this shift in perception to the dynamic global economic landscape, the emergence of new technologies, and the increasing complexity of industry demands. She emphasized that TVET is now seen as a strategic, flexible, and career-oriented education pathway that plays a crucial role in the country's economic development. TVET graduates are recognized for their high technical skills and competitiveness at both national and international levels.

The 10th Ministry of Education (MOE) Vocational College Convocation Ceremony, held today, celebrated the achievements of 10,808 graduates from 84 vocational colleges across 32 programs of study. Fadhlina highlighted the impressive 99% employability rate of TVET graduates under MOE, attributing it to the strong national TVET ecosystem and industry involvement, which are crucial in meeting industry needs.

TVET graduates are recognized not only for their technical skills but also as holistic, educated, and competitive individuals capable of making positive contributions to industry and society. The ministry remains committed to further strengthening TVET as a primary choice for students, ensuring the country's development is driven by a highly skilled and competitive workforce.

Fadhlina extended her appreciation to the ministry's TVET division, lecturers, and industry players for their roles in developing local talent and skills, emphasizing that these efforts are essential for continued national development.
