Slim river: Two people were killed and two others injured in a collision involving two lorries, at KM 372.1 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS), southbound, near Slim River, today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director (Operations) Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad stated that the department received an emergency call at 12 noon. A team from the Slim River Fire and Rescue Station was immediately dispatched to the scene, located approximately 10 kilometres away.
Sabarodzi explained that the accident involved a 10-tonne lorry transporting eggs, which had four people on board - a driver and three assistants - that crashed into the rear of a trailer lorry loaded with cement, parked by the road shoulder. He reported that two of the victims from the lorry ferrying eggs, both in their 20s, were thrown from the vehicle and were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
He further mentioned that the other two individuals, aged 40 and 30, sustained minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to the police for further action. Sabarodzi concluded by stating that the operation wrapped up approximately two hours later.
