Kuala Lumpur: Two former employees of a plastic food packaging company appeared in the Sessions Court today, facing charges of criminal breach of trust (CBT) which allegedly resulted in losses exceeding RM2.9 million due to mishandling the company's raw materials last year.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Koh Kian Hwee, 57, who previously held the position of General Manager of Production at Contipak Noron Sdn Bhd, and Kua Hsean Soon, 34, formerly an assistant production manager, are accused of committing the offense at the company's premises located on Jalan Genting Kelang, Setapak. The alleged crime took place between June 25 and October 16, 2024.
The charges brought against them fall under Section 408 of the Penal Code, in conjunction with Section 34, which stipulates a penalty of up to 14 years of imprisonment, whipping, and a possible fine upon conviction.
Judge Hamidah Mohamed Deril has granted bail to both Koh and Kua, setting the amount at RM30,000 with one surety each. As part of the bail conditions, they are required to surrender their passports to the court.
The court has scheduled the next mention of the case for June 11. Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Shakila Mohd Shariff is representing the prosecution, while lawyer Carmen Eu Kah Mun is defending the accused.
