Johor: Police arrested two local men yesterday, including the alleged mastermind behind the murder of a man whose body was found wrapped and bound with netting in Sungai Tanjung Sembrong, Parit Raja, near Batu Pahat, two days earlier.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Johor deputy police chief DCP Hoo Chuan Huat stated that the two men were apprehended at different locations within the state. Investigations have revealed that the motive for the murder was related to a debt owed by one of the suspects to the victim, who was a businessman. "However, the amount of the debt is still under investigation," Hoo mentioned during a press conference held at the Johor contingent police headquarters.

Hoo further elaborated that police are working to ascertain whether additional suspects were involved in the case. The two men have been remanded for six days starting today until August 10 to aid in the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

On August 3, police had previously arrested three men on the same day the 36-year-old victim's body was discovered. Hoo reported that the victim's body was found with hands and feet bound with adhesive tape and displayed several injuries to the waist and arms.

The victim's wife had lodged a police report on July 29 after her husband went missing in Mutiara Rini, Iskandar Puteri. Initially, the case was classified as a missing person case.
