Two More Held Over Shooting Of MCBA Commander’s Vehicle In Bukit Kayu Hitam

Bukit kayu hitam: Two more suspects have been arrested over the shooting of the vehicle carrying the commander of the Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) in Bukit Kayu Hitam on Wednesday morning.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail stated that the latest arrests involved two local men, aged 51 and 58, who were detained last night. Based on earlier arrests and follow-up investigations, authorities identified two additional suspects, leading to their arrest. The suspects are currently being processed, and a remand order will be sought after the initial 24-hour period.

Saifuddin shared this information during a press conference following his official visit to the MCBA entry point at the Bukit Kayu Hitam Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security Complex. The event was also attended by MCBA director-general Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain and Kedah police chief Adzli Abu Shah.

In the aftermath of the shooting, commander SAC Mohd Nasaruddin M Nasir informed police that he believed he had been followed by unidentified individuals prior to the attack. He provided details on the individuals' physical appearance and behavior, which facilitated the development of a suspect profile and the subsequent arrests.

Earlier, police detained seven individuals, aged between 22 and 52, including a 22-year-old Thai woman, suspected of involvement in the case. These arrests were made during raids conducted in the area and in Padang Besar on the day of the shooting.

The incident occurred when the Proton X70 sport utility vehicle driven by Mohd Nasaruddin was shot at around 5.40 am on a slip road leading to Masjid Muhajirin, approximately one kilometre from the Malaysia-Thailand border. Two suspects on a motorcycle fired two shots, believed to have been discharged from a semi-automatic weapon.
