Batu malim: Two National River Trail (DSK) projects in Pahang have been successfully completed this year, according to Deputy Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir. The government allocated RM850,000 for the development of the Sungai Lipis river trail and the Sungai Paya Pagar river trail located in Bera Public Park.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) leads this initiative, which aims to raise public awareness of river conservation while serving as a recreational attraction through nature-based activities. Akmal Nasrullah emphasized that the DSK programme enables local communities to become more engaged in preserving rivers, a move well-received by the state government, district departments, and the community, revitalizing the surrounding areas.
The initiative is set to continue in the years 2026 and 2027, focusing on expanding river conservation efforts and enhancing community involvement. During the opening of the Sungai Lipis river trail in Batu Malim, Akmal Nasrullah highlighted that the project involved upgrading a 450-metre pathway and is expected to attract up to 2,000 visitors monthly.
Additionally, at the event, the handover of the Sungai Triang and Sungai Semerting River Corridor Restoration Projects in Bentong to the state government was witnessed. The Special Water Resources Award was also presented to the Kampung Batu Malim Village Development and Security Committee.
