U Mobile Transitions to ULTRA5G, Ends DNB Agreement

Kuala lumpur: U Mobile Sdn Bhd has successfully migrated to its own nationwide ULTRA5G network after exiting the wholesale access agreement with Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB). According to BERNAMA News Agency, the telecommunications company announced that this transition is set to provide greater flexibility in delivering superior customer experiences beyond mere connectivity. This will be achieved through its advanced network, distinct products and services, and ongoing innovation.

The company highlighted that since initiating its 5G rollout in July 2025, it has achieved more than 85 percent coverage of populated areas, earning recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records for the fastest 5G network rollout in the country. U Mobile has also heavily invested in in-building coverage, enhancing the 5G experience in various locations.

U Mobile has deployed over 190 in-building coverage sites nationwide and plans to expand to more than 600 sites, aiming to strengthen the country's most extensive 5G experience both outdoors and indoors. Furthermore, U Mobile has secured RM4.3 billion in syndicated financing from a consortium of leading local and international financial institutions. This funding will support the continued expansion and enhancement of its network, underscoring its long-term commitment to providing high-quality connectivity across Malaysia.

The transition comes after U Mobile's exit from its wholesale access agreement with DNB as of July 1, 2026. The company noted that the wholesale arrangement served as a temporary measure to ensure the continuity of 5G services while accelerating the rollout of its network. The migration to ULTRA5G was executed progressively, with all customers now transitioned to U Mobile's network.
