KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 9 (Bernama) — The Umrah, Haj International Tourism (UHIT) Fair 2022, which connects local travel agencies with industry players from the Middle East, will further strengthen the Muslim travel market.
The Association of Bumiputera Tourism Operating Companies Malaysia (Bumitra) honorary secretary-general Ab Rahman Mohd Ali said the event served as a great platform and opportunity for industry players to meet and share one another’s experience and ideas as well as establish strong cooperation in the Muslim travel market industry.
“We are happy to see that this event is continuing to respond to new challenges of which participants will not be restricted to only promoting their haj and umrah programmes but also other tourism products such as historical and Islamic attractions.
“At the same time, we are very sure that our fellow local agents, umrah operators and Muslim travel agents will benefit from the networking developed during this event,” he said in his speech at the launching of UHIT 2022 here today.
The one-day event, launched by Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) deputy secretary-general (Tourism) Mohd Zamri Mat Zain, was participated by 40 industry players comprising umrah operators, hoteliers, transport companies and travel agents from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Indonesia and Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Mohd Zamri said the convening of the event which had been halted for two years following the COVID-19 pandemic was a good indicator that the nation was building momentum in rejuvenating the tourism industry.
“This platform is also an opportunity to provide insights on the prospects of Islamic tourism between members and industry players through networking sessions.
“Ideally, this initiative would elevate the level of the cooperation and shared goals between the industry players,” he said.
