UiTM Expands International Ties Through Malaysia-Uzbekistan Collaboration

Universiti teknologi mara (uitm):zbekistan Creative Culture and Tourism Entrepreneurship Initiative. UiTM Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Entrepreneurship) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Badrul Isa said the programme, held in collaboration with the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan and the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Malaysia, provided students with exposure to tourism entrepreneurship while equipping them with skills to promote Uzbekistan's tourist destinations through creative content.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, 15 students from the Faculty of Art and Design, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, and Faculty of Film, Theatre and Animation were selected to participate in the 14-day international mobility programme in Uzbekistan from Aug 17 to 30. The programme gives students an opportunity to apply their skills in photography, videography, digital editing, and animation to produce creative content promoting Uzbekistan's tourism sector. At the same time, they can gain international experience and discover how their creative skills can be turned into entrepreneurial opportunities with strong commercial potential, he said when met by Bernama at the International Media Forum 'Islamic Civilisation: A New Perspective-New Discoveries' at the Islamic Civilisation Centre here on Wednesday.

Badrul said that during their stay in Uzbekistan, UiTM students and lecturers also participated in a series of consultations and presentation sessions with partner universities, focusing on the exchange of expertise, skills, and knowledge in the creative and academic fields. He said the participants would organise a series of photography exhibitions at selected locations in Malaysia in collaboration with the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Malaysia, giving them an avenue to showcase their creative work, enhance their entrepreneurial prospects, and promote Uzbekistan's tourism destinations.

According to him, the Malaysia-Uzbekistan Creative Culture and Tourism Entrepreneurship Initiative, which began this month and will run until August next year, also features various follow-up activities, including creative exhibitions, joint research, and tourism promotion efforts for Uzbekistan in Malaysia. As part of the programme, UiTM participants will showcase their photography works at a mini exhibition at the Kamoliddin Behzod National Institute of Art and Design tomorrow (Aug 27), highlighting the uniqueness of Uzbekistan's culture and tourism destinations they captured during their stay here.

Badrul also said UiTM would expand its collaboration with higher education institutions in Uzbekistan through several memorandums of understanding planned for signing over the next year, covering academic cooperation, student entrepreneurship, research, and talent development.
