KUALA SELANGOR, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and Yayasan Prihatin Nasional (Prihatin) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen strategic cooperation in looking after the welfare of underprivileged students.
The agreement was signed by UiTM vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Shahrin Sahib@Sahibuddin, while Prihatin was represented by its Board of Trustees chairman Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dr Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar.
Sahol Hamid, in his speech, hoped that through the agreement, Prihatin would be able to implement various programmes for UiTM students, such as community service, student human capital development, livelihood assistance, equipment assistance and various other initiatives.
‘Prihatin has started various initiatives for UiTM students this year, including handing over food basket donations to UiTM’s HEP Kitchen on July 16 and handing over water filter machines at HASA, as proactive measures to help the university look after the welfare of students and all stakeholders.

dditionally, Prihatin has delivered some aid, in the form of cash, electronic goods, necessities and glasses, to students at UiTM Shah Alam and several other UiTM branches, in the previous series,’ he said at the event, held at Al-Sultan Abdullah Hospital (HASA), at UiTM Puncak Alam Campus here.
Sahol Hamid said UiTM is the 16th university to sign an MoU with Prihatin, with the foundation having spent more than RM10 million to ensure the welfare programme is a success, especially involving disadvantaged students at higher education institutions.
