UK, Malaysia To Explore Education And Technology Collaboration

Putrajaya: The United Kingdom is ready to explore collaboration with Malaysia in areas such as technology transfer, joint curriculum development, and student and academic staff exchanges. Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir highlighted these prospects following a meeting with the UK Minister of State for Skills, Rt Hon Baroness Jacqui Smith.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the cooperation between the two nations will also encompass specialised skills training in emerging fields such as renewable energy, green technology, automation, and artificial intelligence (AI). Dr Zambry shared details of the discussions in a Facebook post, emphasizing the importance of strengthening strategic cooperation in higher education and skills development.

Dr Zambry noted that Malaysia's 36 polytechnics and 105 community colleges play a significant role in advancing technical and vocational education and training (TVET). These institutions are not only producing highly skilled graduates but are also actively enhancing the implementation of Work-Based Learning and strengthening relationships with both local and international industries.

He expressed confidence that the collaboration would generate more opportunities for educational mobility and innovation, better equipping a future workforce that is competent and globally competitive. Dr Zambry also noted that this partnership reflects the growing recognition of Malaysia's position as one of the region's leading higher education hubs.
