UKM Welcomes Three New Deputy Vice-Chancellors

Kuala lumpur: Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) today welcomed the appointment of three new Deputy Vice-Chancellors for a two-year term effective yesterday (Dec 3).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the new appointees are Prof Dr Ismanizan Ismail as Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation Affairs, Prof Ts Dr Norinsan Kamil Othman as Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Students and Alumni Affairs, and Prof Dr Bariah Mohd Ali as Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Industry and Community Partnerships Affairs. UKM Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Sufian Jusoh expressed his confidence that their extensive experience and reputations will enhance UKM's leadership in higher education and contribute to national development.

'The entire UKM community congratulates them on their appointments,' he said in a statement today.

In the same statement, UKM highlighted that Prof Dr Ismanizan previously directed the PERMATA@Pintar Negara Centre, the Institute of Systems Biology (INBIOSIS), and the Centre for Research and Instrumentation Management (CRIM). He holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom, and is known for his expertise in biotechnology, particularly in sustainable resources, environment, and smart living.

Meanwhile, Prof Dr Norinsan, with a Doctor of Philosophy in Corrosion Science and Engineering from the University of New South Wales, Australia, was formerly the director of UKM's Student Affairs Centre and has been acting as Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Students and Alumni Affairs since April.

Prof Dr Bariah, a contact lens optometrist specialist with a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of New South Wales, Australia, previously served as a member of the UKM Board of Directors and was Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
