UMK Integrates “Skuad Waja Siswa” Into Sinimo To Address Criminal Violence On Campus

Kuala lumpur: Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) has integrated the 'Skuad Waja Siswa' into a special digital application known as 'Sinimo' as a reporting, monitoring, and support platform for staff and students to deal with criminal violence such as bullying and sexual harassment. Its vice-chancellor, Datuk Prof Dr Arham Abdullah, stated that this initiative is also to strengthen the operations and effectiveness of the 'Skuad Waja Siswa' on campus in assisting individuals who are hesitant to come forward with information on the issues they face.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Sinimo application includes a link for the Skuad Waja Siswa@UMK to facilitate complaints from students and UMK staff, eliminating the need to call or visit the office to report issues, particularly regarding bullying or sexual harassment. Dr Arham noted that since its creation last month, no complaints have been received concerning disciplinary cases involving bullying, attributed to strict policies, continuous awareness education programmes, and the promotion of noble values among campus residents.

He conveyed this information to reporters following the launch of the 'Skuad Waja Siswa Negeri Kelantan' by the Deputy Director General of the Women's Development Department, Dr Faridah Awang, at the UMK Kota Campus, Pengkalan Chepa.

Meanwhile, Dr Faridah highlighted that 2,129 students nationwide have joined Skuad Waja to date. She mentioned that the Skuad Waja Siswa programme acts as a strategic platform to raise awareness about crime prevention and provide accurate information on sexual and reproductive health. The aim is to cultivate students who are not only intellectually capable but also wise and courageous in taking appropriate actions.

Dr Faridah added that the initiative is in line with the National Women's Policy and the Women's Development Action Plan (PTPW), which focus on preventing violence against women, fostering a culture of respect, and promoting a more women-friendly public safety environment.
