KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court here has granted UMNO and Selangor UMNO an additional week to provide updates on the resolution of a lawsuit initiated by SRC International Sdn Bhd and its subsidiaries. The suit pertains to the alleged receipt of RM19.5 million by the parties in 2015. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Judge Datuk Raja Ahmad Mohzanuddin Shah Raja Mohzan approved the request for an extension, submitted by lawyers Mohamed Shahrul Fazli Kamarulzaman, representing UMNO, and Datuk Hasnal Rezua Merican, representing Selangor UMNO. The request faced no opposition from Razlan Hadri Zulkifli, the lawyer for the plaintiffs which include SRC International, Gandingan Mentari Sdn Bhd, and Jendela Pinggiran Sdn Bhd. Razlan stated, "As we indicated to My Lord, the settlement talks are progressing and we are seeking a few more days until Nov 27." Consequently, the court has scheduled November 27 for an update on the settlement proceedings. The plaintiffs initiated the lawsuits in May 2021. The first suit aims to reclaim RM16 million allegedly transferred to UMNO, asserting that UMNO was or should have been aware that the funds belonged to SRC and had no legitimate grounds to receive them. The second suit seeks to recover RM3.5 million from Selangor UMNO, a sum the plaintiffs claim was wrongfully received by the party.
