Kuala Lumpur: The 2025 UMNO General Assembly, originally set for November 26 to 29, has been rescheduled to January 14 to 17 next year. UMNO secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki noted that this adjustment is due to a scheduling conflict with the 17th Sabah State Election, taking place from November 15 to 29, as announced by the Election Commission (SPR).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki stated that the postponement aims to enable UMNO leadership and machinery across the nation to concentrate their efforts on supporting Barisan Nasional Sabah. The goal is to regain public trust and facilitate Barisan Nasional's leadership in the government for the benefit of Sabahans.
The UMNO General Assembly was initially planned for August but was delayed to late November to accommodate preparations for the Sabah state elections.
