Kuala lumpur: Umno is ready to welcome former Bersatu members and leaders subjected to disciplinary action by their party to join its ranks through the Rumah Bangsa initiative, said party Vice-President Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin. The Rumah Bangsa Unification Committee chairman stated that as a party that serves as a home for the Malays, UMNO remains open to anyone who wishes to align with the party's struggle.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamed Khaled, who is also the Minister of Defence, emphasized the inclusivity of Rumah Bangsa, remarking, "We are open to accepting anyone because our house is Rumah Bangsa, meaning the house is large enough for everyone." He made these remarks after officiating the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) MADANI Economy programme at Batu 3 Camp.
Mohamed Khaled was responding to recent decisions by the Bersatu Disciplinary Board, which had expelled and suspended several elected representatives and leaders. Just yesterday, the board sacked and suspended four more elected representatives and party leaders for breaching Clause 9.1.4 of the party constitution, alongside the party's Code of Ethics and Conduct.
Last week, Bersatu also took disciplinary actions against six other leaders, expelling two state assemblymen and immediately suspending four others. The Rumah Bangsa initiative, introduced by UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, is designed to unite the Malay community and facilitate the return of former members. To date, the initiative has reportedly received over 10,000 applications.
