Kuala lumpur: The welfare of underprivileged students will continue to be a priority for Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) to ensure they have access to higher education, said its vice-chancellor Prof Dr Yatimah Alias. She emphasized UMPSA's commitment to providing equal and quality education opportunities for all students at the university.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, UMPSA is dedicated to offering financial assistance, academic support, and various initiatives to help students pursue their dreams without facing obstacles. Yatimah highlighted this commitment during a media statement, where she reiterated the university's focus on supporting students from low-income backgrounds.

During the registration event, Yatimah engaged with new students and presented the Dermasiswa B40, a special scholarship aimed at students from low-income families who are pursuing Diploma studies in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). This scholarship provides coverage for tuition fees and a monthly allowance, benefitting 20 students.

Additionally, Yatimah awarded an Early Education Incentive of RM1,000 to students in need, funded by the UMPSA Foundation. This support aims to alleviate some of the financial burdens faced by these students as they begin their academic journey.

The registration for the 2026/2027 academic session at UMPSA saw a total of 1,045 new Diploma students enrolling, marking the highest new student intake since the university's establishment. This milestone reflects UMPSA's growing appeal and commitment to accessible education.
