Unemployed Man Faces Multiple Charges Including Robbery and Weapon Possession

Kota bharu: An unemployed man, Ramizu Che Amat, 43, pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court today to two counts of robbery and unlawful possession of a dangerous weapon.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ramizu made his plea before Judge Nik Habri Muhamad. On the first count, he faces charges under Section 394 of the Penal Code for causing hurt to Choo Choi San, 51, during a robbery that took place behind a motorcycle shop on Jalan Sultanah Zainab at 7 am on June 24 of the previous year. If convicted, he could face a prison sentence of up to 20 years, along with a fine or whipping.

Additionally, Ramizu is charged with robbing a gold chain from Asmah Deraman, 70, at Kedai Gunong, Bachok, at 7:05 am on September 21. This charge, under Section 392 of the Penal Code, carries a potential imprisonment term of up to 14 years, along with a fine or whipping if found guilty. The court has scheduled December 10 for the next mention of this case.

In a separate Sessions Court, Ramizu also pleaded not guilty to possessing a 16-centimetre-long kerambit with a wooden sheath, for which he did not have a valid permit. This incident occurred in Taman Sri Baung at 2 pm on October 14. The charge is framed under Section 7(1) of the Corrosive and Explosives Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958, which provides for a prison sentence of not less than five years and not more than 10 years upon conviction. Judge Zulkifli Abllah has set December 17 for the mention of this charge.
