UniMAP Strengthens International Collaboration With USAKTI

Kuala lumpur: Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) has renewed its Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Universitas Trisakti (USAKTI) in a move to further strengthen international collaboration and benefit the academic community.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, UniMAP vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Ts Dr Zaliman Sauli stated that the partnership between the two universities began in 2020, followed by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2021 to formalise their cooperation. He emphasized that the MoA renewal marks a commitment to deepen collaboration, which includes enhancing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes through academic staff exchanges, student mobility, and joint research projects. Additionally, the agreement facilitates the organisation of seminars, symposiums, and international forums that can spark new ideas and showcase the expertise of both institutions.

The MoA was signed by the USAKTI Foundation head Prof. Ainun Na'im and Zaliman, witnessed by the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who is UniMAP chancellor. The visit, held in conjunction with UniMAP International Leadership Mobility 2025, was also attended by the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, who is UniMAP Pro-Chancellor.

Currently, UniMAP comprises seven faculties: Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Business and Communication, and the recently added Faculty of Intelligent Computing. The university's primary focus is on Engineering and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Technology, specifically in Electrical and Electronics, aligning with current industry needs.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra underscored the importance of building international networks to broaden the horizons of UniMAP students. He expressed a desire to see more UniMAP students gain knowledge and experience in Indonesia, particularly at USAKTI, while also welcoming students from Trisakti to explore engineering, technology, and innovation in Malaysia.

On August 11, UniMAP was awarded the TVET Higher Education Provider (PPT) Excellence Award in the University and University College category at the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) Awards 2025. This award recognizes UniMAP's capacity to leverage the latest educational technology, offer multi-disciplinary TVET programmes that meet market needs, and engage in strategic collaborations with industry.
