Kuala lumpur: Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) has been urged to strengthen its ties with overseas institutions, particularly in Indonesia, by developing joint curricula that focus on education, technology, entrepreneurship, and leadership. Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who is also the Chancellor of UniMAP, emphasized the importance of collaboration during an official visit to Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin noted that Malaysia and Indonesia share cultural roots, language, and common values, making them ideal partners in education. He stated that education should also foster cultural understanding, especially in light of global challenges such as climate change and digitalisation. The Raja Muda highlighted UniMAP's strengths in research, green innovation, and technology-based education, which could benefit regional communities.
The visit, part of the International Leadership Mobility 2025, included Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Hajah Dr Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, UniMAP's Pro-Chancellor. The delegation's presence at the renowned Indonesian institution aimed to strengthen academic ties and the bond of brotherhood between the two nations. Tuanku Syed Faizuddin stressed the significance of UniMAP's role in fostering international collaborations to prepare students for global competition.
The Raja Muda expressed hope for future collaborations that would create opportunities for young people to share knowledge and develop leadership skills. He assured that Perlis supports UniMAP's commitment to bridging knowledge, technology, and culture in the region.
