Kuala terengganu: Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) is aiming for a 20 per cent increase in international postgraduate student enrolment by 2026, particularly in core research areas such as Health Sciences, Islamic Civilisation, Sustainable Agriculture, and Technology Innovation.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, UniSZA Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Fadzli Adam stated that the university currently has 706 international postgraduate students and nine international pre-university students out of a total of 14,274 active students. This growth target is supported by an additional RM300,000 in scholarship funds, along with ongoing initiatives to enhance international research networks and academic mobility programs.
Dr Fadzli Adam highlighted that as of July this year, UniSZA had achieved 669 publications in high-impact journals, indicating the university's successful global research collaborations. He also noted that UniSZA employs 13 post-doctoral researchers and 75 research fellows actively working in strategic fields.
Additionally, UniSZA is committed to maintaining a policy of enrolling five to 10 per cent international pre-university students, aligning with the Ministry of Higher Education's guidelines, while continuing to focus on local student enrolment.
