Unity Ministry Explores Establishment Of Khazanah Warisan Fund

Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of National Unity plans to look into the need for a new and more sustainable financing model, namely the establishment of Dana Wakaf Khazanah Warisan. Its Minister, Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang, said it would function as a special trust fund to support conservation initiatives, exhibitions, research, as well as the expansion of the country's arts and heritage.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the minister highlighted that through Dana Khazanah Warisan, the corporate sector, interested bodies, and the general public could channel contributions in the form of financial or material support. He made these remarks while officiating the launch of the CHAGEE Malaysia and the Department of Museums Malaysia Campaign at Muzium Negara.

He cited the Australian Museum in Sydney, which successfully raised over A$9 million with cost-sharing between Westpac Bank, the New South Wales Government, and major donors. Aaron emphasized that such a partnership model demonstrated the significant impact government and corporate collaboration could have on the sustainability of heritage institutions.

Aaron further noted that Dana Khazanah Warisan in Malaysia could serve as a strategic platform connecting the government, corporate sector, and the community in preserving and enhancing the country's arts and heritage on the global stage.
