Kuala lumpur: A total of 24,761 out of 251,392 candidates who sat for the 2025 Quran and Fardhu Ain Class Assessment Test (UPKK) recorded excellent results by obtaining an A in all nine subjects of the examination. The subjects involved are Quran, Aqidah, Sirah, Adab, Jawi and Khat, Arabic, Ibadah, Penghayatan Cara Hidup Islam (PCHI), and Amali Solat.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Dr. Zulkifli Hasan, stated that the overall Grade Average Score (GPK) for the 2025 UPKK was 1.83 points compared to 1.85 points in the previous year. "Of the total number of candidates who sat for all examination papers, the percentage of candidates who achieved an overall pass for the 2025 UPKK is 89.61 per cent," he said at the UPKK 2025 Results Announcement.

Dr. Zulkifli also highlighted that 25,230 candidates secured 8As, and 18,990 candidates managed to get 7As. He noted the number of registered candidates for 2025 rose to 252,997, reflecting a growing demand for UPKK, marking an increase of 5.17 per cent compared to 240,244 candidates in 2024. 'The percentage of absent candidates also declined to 0.63 per cent, compared with 1.36 per cent in 2024. This shows greater parental awareness and the continued efforts of teachers to encourage students to sit for the UPKK,' he added.

The 2025 examination also witnessed the introduction of a new UPKK format under the KAFA 2.0 Curriculum, where all subjects are now assessed through a Central Assessment component covering Quran, Akidah, Sirah, Adab, Jawi and Khat, Arabic, and Ibadah, along with two Classroom Assessment components, namely PCHI and Amali Solat.

The results showed an increase in several states, with TERENGGANU leading as 2,457 out of 22,128 candidates obtained 9As. Yayasan Islam Terengganu director Datuk Hadi Hassan mentioned that the number increased by about 70 per cent compared to 1,488 out of 20,896 candidates in the previous year, while the National Average Grade (GPN) also improved to 2.00 in 2025 compared to 2.01 in 2024.

In PAHANG, 1,977 candidates obtained 9As compared to 1,636 in 2024, while 2,251 candidates achieved 8As. Kuantan emerged as the best district with a District Average Grade (GPD) of 1.59, followed by Raub (1.62) and Maran (1.65). The Pahang Islamic Religious Department director Datuk Ahmad Khirrizal Ab Rahman stated that 10 districts recorded an increase while four others recorded a slight decrease, with Cameron Highlands showing the highest surge as the GPD increased from 2.10 in 2024 to 1.85 in 2025.

In PENANG, 1,493 out of 7,888 candidates obtained 9As, an increase compared to 1,025 in 2024. The Penang Islamic Religious Affairs Department director Datuk Marzuki Hassan noted that 92.21 per cent of the candidates achieved the minimum proficiency level, while 17 students were absent from the examination.

In MELAKA, a total of 1,340 candidates obtained all As, compared to 1,474 in 2024. Deputy exco for State Education, Higher Education and Religious Affairs Datuk Rosli Abdullah stated the state's GPA improved to 1.66 compared to 1.68 the previous year. He mentioned that Alor Gajah recorded the best GDP of 1.62, followed by Melaka Tengah (1.67) and Jasin (1.70), while 45 students were recognised as excellent UPKK students at the state level in 2025.

In NEGERI SEMBILAN, 1,211 candidates obtained 9As with the state recording a Grade Point Average Score (GPS) of 1.76 and an overall pass rate of 90.65 per cent.
