UPSI Enhances Teacher Training to Align with National Education Policy

Kuala lumpur: Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) is taking significant measures to enhance the training of prospective teachers, aligning its efforts with the national education policy. The policy emphasizes contemporary pedagogy and student-centred learning approaches in schools, as highlighted by UPSI's vice-chancellor, Prof Datuk Dr Md Amin Md Taff.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the enhancements in teacher training aim to instill robust humanistic values while emphasizing integrity and professionalism. These efforts are intended to cultivate educators of high character. Prof Datuk Dr Md Amin Md Taff affirmed UPSI's commitment to supporting the government's initiatives to ensure the effective implementation of the national education policy, which is expected to yield quality educators for the sustainability of Malaysia's education system.

Prof Datuk Dr Md Amin Md Taff also expressed UPSI's support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's recent announcement regarding the National Education Blueprint 2026-2035. The blueprint outlines a restructuring of the formal education system's entry age, proposing that preschool education begins at age five and Year One at age six starting in 2027, contingent upon parents' readiness.

The Prime Minister remarked that this restructuring aligns with efforts to bolster children's learning readiness from an early stage, contributing to a more balanced development of students' potential.
