USM STUDENT OFFERED TO JOIN SKY GLOBAL APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME IN TURKIYE


A third-year Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) School of Aerospace Engineering (PPKA) student has been offered to join the Sky Global Apprenticeship Programme at the Turkish Aerospace in Ankara, Turkiye from Sept 2-27.

Minister of Higher Education Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir officiated the event to hand over the letter to Seaan Manuel Pillay in Cyberjaya on Tuesday (July 16).

It was also attended by USM deputy vice-chancellor of Academic and International Prof Datuk Dr Narimah Samat, representing USM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Mohamed.

Narimah said Seaan’s achievement is a huge accomplishment for the university and Malaysia’s higher education sector.

“This programme not only opens up opportunities for students to gain international work experience but also strengthens relationships between educational institutions and industries at the global level.

“This aligns with USM’s efforts to produce graduates who are competitive and possess skills relevant to the needs of the aerospace industry
,’ she said in a statement today.

The Sky Global Apprenticeship Programme is a high-impact initiative under the collaboration of the Consortium of Malaysian Universities (CMU), the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), and TUSAS Malaysia, signed on April 7, 2023.

The USM PPKA is among the institutions actively involved in related research fields.

This programme is specifically designed for Malaysian students to ensure they are professionally trained in aerospace engineering and exposed to practical experience, including avionics, electronic design, programming, aircraft structure design and aircraft systems installation.
