UTeM Climbs Global Ranking In Engineering Fields In QS 2026

Melaka: Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) has recorded notable progress at the international level after achieving significant improvements in two key disciplines in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026. Its vice-chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr Massila Kamalrudin, announced that the university's Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering field climbed to the 351-400 band, while Electrical and Electronic Engineering advanced into the 401-450 group.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Computer Science and Information Systems discipline maintained its position in the 651-700 range, reflecting consistent academic performance. Professor Massila highlighted that this achievement mirrors UTeM's ongoing commitment to enhancing teaching excellence, research, and innovation, aligning with their goal to emerge as a leading global technical education institution.

Massila attributed the success to focused strategies in enhancing research quality, increasing the impact of academic publications, and expanding strategic collaborations with industry players and international institutions. She also emphasized the role of dedicated academic staff in ensuring relevant and competitive curricula, which significantly contributed to the improved rankings.

'This is not merely about numbers, but a strong indicator of UTeM's growing reputation as a high-quality technical and TVET-focused institution trusted by global stakeholders,' she said. The achievement is expected to open up wider opportunities for international collaboration and enhance the employability of graduates.
