Utilise Political Stability for People-Centric Programmes, Says Anwar

Kuala lumpur: All parties need to take advantage of the political stability that the country is currently experiencing to formulate and implement clear programmes for the good of the people, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, highlighted that the country's political stability has now enabled the government to record good economic growth, reduce unemployment, and record the highest rate of investment inflow in history.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar remarked on the nation's journey from political instability to three years of stable governance, resulting in significant achievements such as the near elimination of hardcore poverty. He acknowledged the collective efforts of the Cabinet and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar in translating these efforts into actionable outcomes.

The Prime Minister also admitted that there are still several shortcomings that need to be addressed to ensure greater success. He emphasized the need for continuous improvement and urged a focus on human values amid political, ideological, and social disagreements.

Commenting on the MADANI government's continued efforts to combat corruption, Anwar expressed concern over a troubling trend that glorifies bribe-givers. He noted the inconsistency in attitudes towards corruption, where people oppose it but react defensively when actions are taken against acquaintances involved in corrupt practices. Anwar stressed that such attitudes hinder the progress of the state and country.
