UTP REMAIN MALAYSIA’S TOP UNIVERSITY IN 2023 YOUNG UNIVERSITY RANKINGS FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR

Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) has solidified its position as Malaysia’s number one university in the Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings 2023 for the third consecutive year since 2021.

The UTP in a statement today said, the 26-year-old institution demonstrated remarkable progress in global recognition by climbing an impressive 40 places to secure the 79th position from its previous rank of 119th.

UTP excels in the Research and International Outlook domains, receiving the highest scores in the nation and its exceptional rise showcases the university’s unwavering commitment to excellence in education, research, and fostering a dynamic learning environment and experience for its students.

UTP Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib expressed immense pride in the university’s exceptional performance in the rankings.

“We are thrilled and honoured to maintain our position as Malaysia’s leading university in THE Young University Rankings. This achievement is a testament to the collective efforts of our dedicated faculty, staff, and students, as well as the unwavering support of Petronas and our partners.

“UTP will continuously strive for excellence in academics, research, and student experience. We are committed to equipping our graduates with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving world,” he said.

He added that UTP actively supports Petronas’ vision for a sustainable future by aligning with Petronas energy transition initiatives and are actively involved in efforts to achieve Net Zero Carbon Emission (NZCE) by 2050.

“Through our research endeavours and academic programmes, we aim to develop sustainable solutions and cultivate environmentally conscious leaders who can contribute to a greener and more sustainable world,” he said.

The THE Young University Rankings 2023 evaluated universities worldwide that are 50 years or younger.
