Perak: Renowned national veteran director and actor Datuk Rahim Razali was conferred the 'Tokoh Zaid Bin Thabit' or Media and Communications Practitioner Icon Award, in conjunction with the Perak state-level Maulidur Rasul celebration here today. The 87-year-old, whose full name is Abdul Rahim Mohd Razali, is a native of Batu Gajah, Perak.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Rahim, also a well-known sports commentator, previously served as a broadcasting assistant at RTM before establishing his own company, Angkatan Seniman Abad XX Sdn Bhd, in 1981. The star of the films Abang and Abang 92 has produced 50 dramas for RTM and 15 feature films, eight of which were selected for the Tokyo Film Festival.

Earlier, the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, presented this year's state-level Maulidur Rasul awards, including to Rahim, who received RM5,000 and a plaque. Meanwhile, Yang Walat, 82, a single mother of 15 children from Kuala Kurau, was named the Exemplary Family Icon Award (Anugerah Keluarga Amar Yassir), taking home RM10,000, an Umrah package, and a plaque.

The 'Ibnu Abbas' or Preacher Icon Award was conferred on Radhi Kamarul Hailan, 56, while the Mosque Official Award (Tokoh Siak) went to Saharuddin Hassim, 74, and Yahya Man, 83, received the 'Tokoh Bilal' award. The Imam Award was presented to Mohd Hanafiah Idris, 56, while the Non-Governmental Organisation Award went to Pertubuhan Wanita Prihatin Perak.
