Kuala lumpur: National Defence Education Centre (Puspahanas) president Vice Admiral Datuk Sabri Zali announced his intention to pursue legal action against individuals or parties disseminating defamatory statements about him. This decision comes amid allegations made by Badrul Hisham Shaharin, also known as Chegu Bard, the Port Dickson Bersatu division chief.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sabri's legal advisor, Muhammad Firdaus Jumaludin, addressed the media at a press conference, stating that the legal action would specifically target Chegu Bard. The allegations, described as untrue and misleading, have been circulating on social media, accompanied by photos and documents that have not been verified. Subsequently, the matter has been referred to the authorities for a thorough investigation.
"Since the source cannot be ascertained, we are handing over this matter to the proper legal process so that all questions arising in the public sphere at this time can be clarified," Muhammad Firdaus explained. He also confirmed that Vice Admiral Sabri had already filed a police report regarding the allegations, with plans to submit additional reports. These actions stem from the fact that the allegations have been ongoing, originating as early as August of the previous year.
Muhammad Firdaus highlighted the extensive damage the allegations have caused, which necessitates legal intervention. The unfounded claims have not only affected Sabri on an institutional level but have also impacted his family and friends.
The situation escalated on December 31 when Chegu Bard publicly questioned the continued service of a senior military officer allegedly linked to a corruption case.
