Ayer Kuning: The voter turnout for the Ayer Kuning state by-election remained low by 11 am, with only 26.36 percent of the 31,281 registered voters having participated, announced Election Commission (EC) Chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the EC is still hopeful that the voter turnout will eventually reach their target of 70 percent. This optimism was shared by Ramlan Harun during a press conference after he inspected the polling centre at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bidor.
Voters were encouraged to cast their votes early, considering the unpredictable weather conditions. The voting process has been progressing without issues, and Ramlan Harun expressed hopes that this pace would continue until the polling centre closes at 6 pm.
A total of 19 polling centres, comprising 63 channels, were operational from 8 am for the Ayer Kuning by-election. The election involves 31,281 registered voters.
