Wan Arif Adjusts to New Doubles Partnership with Muhammad Faiq

Kuala Lumpur:Wan Arif Wan Junaidi, a national men's doubles badminton player, is navigating the challenges of frequent partner changes within the national squad. Despite initial unease, he has embraced a positive outlook after consulting with coaches and senior players, as he begins a new partnership with Muhammad Faiq Haziq Masawi.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Wan Arif, 24, acknowledged the discomfort of switching partners but stressed the importance of focusing on his game. He has previously partnered with players like Muhammad Haikal Nazri, Kang Khai Xing, and Yap Roy King, with whom he won the Macau Open.

The Terengganu native is set to mentor Muhammad Faiq in upcoming tournaments, starting with the Malaysia Super 100 in Johor, followed by competitions in Indonesia and Taiwan. Wan Arif is determined to enhance his individual performance while guiding the junior player.

In discussing the new partnership, Wan Arif emphasized that the decision was made collaboratively with his coaches, including Rexy Mainaky and Herry Iman Pierngadi. He acknowledged the adjustments needed for playing with another left-handed player and the importance of managing emotions on the court.

Despite recovering from a shoulder injury, which has limited his training time, Wan Arif is focused on building chemistry with Faiq and adapting quickly for the upcoming tournament in Johor.
