Perlis: The four-day 2025 Warisan Nusantara Festival (Warisan'25), which began yesterday, serves as a platform to celebrate and preserve local arts, culture and heritage, ensuring they remain relevant and appreciated among the young generation. Perlis Tourism, Arts and Culture and Rural Development Committee chairman Abu Bakar Hamzah emphasized the festival's role in fostering unity and instilling pride in the nation's cultural heritage.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Abu Bakar stated that embracing modernity should not come at the cost of losing cultural roots that are central to the nation's identity. He highlighted the importance for young people to understand and appreciate their historical and artistic legacy, thereby maintaining pride in their cultural inheritance. Speaking at the festival's opening at the Heritage Hall, he expressed his hopes for the event's continuation as part of the tourism and cultural agenda.
Abu Bakar noted that festivals like Warisan'25 could enhance appreciation for regional cultural heritage while also attracting tourists to Perlis. He stressed the significance of such initiatives in achieving the goals of Visit Perlis 2024-2025, which has now been extended to 2026. The festival offers cultural performances and showcases, along with opportunities for visitors to explore Perlis's tourist attractions.
