Kuala lumpur: About 500 congregants attended a Yasin recitation, tahlil, and doa selamat ceremony at the National Mosque in conjunction with the 2026 Warriors' Day celebration as a mark of remembrance and appreciation for the service and sacrifices of the nation's heroes.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar stated that the event, organised by the Prime Minister's Department (JPM), was held to honour all security personnel and national heroes, both serving and those who had fallen in defence of the nation. The participants included personnel from various agencies, including JPM, the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM), the Immigration Department of Malaysia, and other security agencies, acknowledging them all as national heroes.

"The highlight of the 2026 Warriors' Day celebration will take place at Dataran Pahlawan Negara, Putrajaya, tomorrow," Shamsul Azri told reporters after the event. Earlier, he joined the Yasin recitation, followed by the tahlil and doa selamat, led by National Mosque Grand Imam Dr Amru Alhaz Adnan. Also present were Army Chief Gen Tan Sri Azhan Md Othman and Auditor-General Datuk Seri Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi.

The Yasin recitation, tahlil, and doa selamat ceremony is among the traditional events held ahead of the official Warriors' Day celebration to commemorate the struggles and sacrifices of security personnel in safeguarding the nation's sovereignty. Warriors' Day has been observed annually on July 31 since 1968, with the Malaysian Armed Forces and the Royal Malaysia Police taking turns to organise the celebration.
