Water Park In Hutan Bandar MBJB Closes For Maintenance After Cleanliness Issues

Johor bahru: The Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) Water Park here will be closed for two days starting today to make way for cleaning and maintenance work.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi stated that the management had to take action to temporarily close the recreation area due to a few visitors who were irresponsible in maintaining cleanliness and public facilities. The popular location, developed by the state government together with MBJB, was opened free of charge to Johor residents to ensure that all levels of society could enjoy a conducive and quality recreational space.

However, it was noted that some visitors failed to maintain the cleanliness of the area, allowing children to defecate indiscriminately, which not only pollutes the environment but also poses a health risk to other visitors, especially children. Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi expressed his concerns in a Facebook post, urging visitors to cooperate by taking care of public facilities, including the 'Kids Pool', to ensure it remains enjoyable for all.

He emphasized the importance of setting a good example and educating the public on the significance of maintaining cleanliness, respecting public facilities, and being considerate of others' comfort. He added that instilling these values would contribute to shaping a more civilized and responsible generation in the future.

This closure follows viral social media images showing excrement near the recreational pool. Previously, Johor Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor reported that approximately 4,500 people visited the City Forest on its opening day to enjoy time with family and friends.
