Welfare Department ‘Raids’ KL Homeless Hotspots, Rescues 545 Individuals

Kuala lumpur: The Welfare Department has conducted operations across Kuala Lumpur's homeless hotspots, successfully rescuing 545 individuals from the streets. These efforts aim to provide shelter and a fresh start for those in need.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kumar, an unemployed individual originally from Kuala Selangor, expressed hope that this intervention would allow him the opportunity to find a stable job. Another individual, Daud from Perak, shared that his circumstances deteriorated after being abandoned by friends before the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously engaged in contract work, Daud resorted to collecting cans and faced detention for sleeping in public spaces.

Both Kumar and Daud are among those who hope that the assistance from the Welfare Department will lead to positive changes in their lives. The initiative underscores the department's commitment to addressing homelessness and supporting individuals in transitioning to better living conditions.
