WFH Policy Supported by NADI Facilities, Says Communications Minister

Johor bahru: The internet facilities at National Information Dissemination Centres (NADI) can be utilised by those involved in the Work From Home (WFH) policy, says Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. He stated that the ministry would coordinate all NADI centres in major cities involved in the policy's implementation to ensure they were accessible to the local community and civil servants affected.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, many NADI centres are already being used for online meetings by bodies and agencies such as Amanah Ikhtiar, thus expanding NADI's use for WFH purposes should face no obstacles. The government recently announced the implementation of the WFH policy starting April 15, specifically for civil servants and Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) for three days a week. This move aims to reduce energy consumption following the global energy crisis sparked by the West Asia conflict.

Fahmi mentioned that the centres would maintain their usual operations according to office hours. In his speech, he highlighted NADI's potential to serve as a support system for those involved in WFH to carry out their work smoothly. The government, through the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), spends over RM350 million annually to operate 1,098 NADI centres nationwide.

He noted that Sarawak recorded the highest number of NADI centres with 156, followed by 132 in Sabah and 101 in Johor. He urged all parties, especially managers, assistant managers, and chairmen of NADI Advisory Panels, to continue working together to enhance various beneficial programmes for the local community.
