Sibu: Corporal Chiu Teck Siong's widow, Tan Wei Wei, 39, never imagined that her husband would 'return' earlier than the date he was supposed to begin his leave on August 27. However, his return was not greeted with laughter by their five daughters, aged between four and 11, but with tears accompanying the arrival of their father's coffin.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tan shared that her husband had long wished to be transferred to Sibu so the family could live together. "He had wanted to be transferred back here for a long time, but it never happened. I never expected he would return like this," she said when met at the Ching Chuan Sibu Mortuary Hall at Jalan Bukit Lima here this evening.

She expressed concern about their children's future education, stating, "What I am thinking about now is their future education. My income is not high; I hope there are those willing to help our family."

Corporal Chiu, 40, was among three police personnel who died, believed to have been electrocuted, outside the Weston police station in Beaufort, Sabah, yesterday. Earlier, his remains were flown from the Royal Malaysia Police Air Operations Force (PGU) base in Kota Kinabalu and arrived at the Sibu Airport at 5.50 pm.

A final respects ceremony will be held at the Ching Chuan Sibu Mortuary Hall at 7.30 am tomorrow before the remains are taken to Nirvana Memorial Park for cremation. The ashes will later be laid to rest at the Methodist Grace Memorial Park on Jalan Kemuyang.

The two other victims who perished in the incident were Corporal Mohamad Nur Hafiz Ibrahim, 29, and Constable Muhammad Raimi Ismarubee, 26.
