Wildfire Affects 88 Hectares Of Land In Sarawak

Sarawak: Wildfires are still active at four locations across Sarawak, affecting over 88 hectares of land, with the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) continuing efforts to extinguish the blaze.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, a spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre reported that the largest fire involves a pineapple plantation in Marudi, Miri Division, covering an area of 80.15 hectares. This is followed by a former landfill in Kampung Plaie, Kota Samarahan, which spans four hectares.

The other two affected locations include a two-hectare forest area near the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Mukah Campus and the Kampung Jerijih landfill in Tanjung Mani, also covering two hectares.

Meanwhile, the Department of Environment (DOE) website indicated that the air pollution index (API) readings recorded at 12 stations in Sarawak as of 12.40 pm were at a moderate level, ranging between 53 and 74.
