Kuala lumpur: A 39-year-old woman has died after allegedly being stabbed 13 times by her husband during an argument at their residence in Taman Tiram last night. Kulim police chief Supt Syamsul Sinring reported that the victim, identified as S. Sila, was transported to Kulim Hospital by family members where she was pronounced dead at 9:30 pm.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the 43-year-old unemployed suspect visited the Lunas Police Station at 8:40 pm, confessing to the act of stabbing his wife at their home. The suspect also surrendered a folding knife believed to have been the weapon used in the incident.

Syamsul detailed that the violent episode took place in the master bedroom of the couple's single-storey terrace house, which they shared with their three-year-old child. Preliminary investigations suggest the incident was triggered by a bout of jealousy between the suspect and the victim. Investigators found traces believed to be blood on the bedsheet, pillow, headboard, and several other items on the bed, collecting a total of 11 samples related to the incident.

The suspect admitted to stabbing the victim 13 times with the folding knife. After the incident, he bathed and retrieved his child from a babysitter, subsequently handing the child to his sister at the Juru Rest and Service (R and R) area in Penang. The suspect informed his sister of the stabbing before heading to the Lunas Police Station to turn himself in.

Syamsul confirmed that the suspect was apprehended at 9 pm on the same day, with a 20-centimetre folding knife seized as evidence. The victim's body was sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for a post-mortem examination. The case is currently being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
