He stated that the incident occurred when the woman reportedly fell from the 45-metre-high bridge at about 10.30 am the previous day. "The woman's body was found floating after becoming lodged against tree branches about 200 metres from the spot where she was reported to have fallen," he informed Bernama upon being contacted today.

The woman's body was retrieved after the search and rescue (SAR) operation resumed at 9 am today, involving 38 personnel from various agencies, as well as members of the public. The victim's body was subsequently taken to Dungun Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, the victim's father, Din Zakaria, 77, expressed his devastation over being unable to save his daughter after she fell from the bridge, which is situated about 100 metres from his home. He recounted rushing to the bridge after witnessing his daughter, the youngest of his six children, fall into the river. "I could only watch as Nor Haslini struggled in the water before being swept away by the strong current and disappearing beneath the surface," he said when met at the scene today. Despite the tragedy, he expressed gratitude that his daughter's body had been recovered.
