Women’s Asia Junior Cup: Young Tigress Mauled By China In Opening Game

Hulunbuir city: Malaysia suffered a 6-1 thrashing by hosts China in their opening Elite Group match at the 2026 Women's Hockey Asia Junior Cup at Moqi Training Base in Hulunbuir City today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, China ran rings around the Malaysian team to score six field goals through Qi Chenchen (13th minute), Nie Yushuo (24th minute), Feng Jiaxin (38th minute), Wei Qixiao (45th minute), Chen Jiani (46th minute), and Wang Lihang (50th minute). The national team, known as the Young Tigress, managed to score only a consolation goal through a Nurain Atiqah Mohd Fauzi penalty corner setpiece in the 48th minute.

The Young Tigress, coached by Mohamed Nasihin Nubli Ibrahim, will look to bounce back when they next take on India on Sunday (Sept 6) at 9 am. In another Elite Group match today, Japan beat South Korea 2-0.
