Kuala lumpur: The MYJalan application, previously known as a public complaints channel for road damages, will be expanded into a comprehensive national database for road infrastructure management across Malaysia. Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said this move comes in response to the current key challenge in road management, which is the lack of standardised and holistic data.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the expansion is aimed at building an important national database for infrastructure development, enabling better coordination of road maintenance nationwide. This initiative allows for more accurate and efficient action. With structured and comprehensive data, the ministry can plan to ensure that roads, regardless of which agency they fall under, are safe and comfortable for all road users.
The announcement was made by Nanta during the MYJalan 2025 Programme Road Data Seminar and Engagement Session, which was attended by stakeholders from federal ministries, state agencies in Sabah and Sarawak, State Secretary Offices, Land and Mines Offices, local authorities, and concession companies. The session aimed to strengthen the reform agenda for national road data management.
Nanta highlighted that the dialogue received positive feedback from state governments and local authority representatives, and additional engagement sessions are planned to refine the system's implementation before its presentation to the Cabinet at the end of 2025.
Launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on August 24, 2023, the MYJalan programme is recognised as a key MADANI Government initiative to ensure safer, more systematic, and inclusive road management.
Meanwhile, according to the Works Ministry, a total of 40,938 road-related complaints were received under the MYJalan programme as of July 31, with 30.4 per cent involving Federal roads, while the remaining 69.6 per cent were related to state-administered and other roads.
